Volya just shrugged lightly at her question. "Never really got into any hobbies or anything." he muttered. He'd been more focused on running and keeping alive after all. But the next thing, he shrugged lightly. "Everything looks so scary so I don't really know what I'd do." he muttered softly. He thought or a bit about what he could do, but really didn't see much. Only thing special about him was he glowed, and also he was fire retardant.

She exhaled and focused on her plate. "You'll find something. Just think about it." She fell into silence then,. After shunning company for so long, joining Le Cirque and having to get to know and work people was still a work in progress for her. Encouraging someone to find a job they liked, especially a little bird-boy she didn't even know, was a new experience and she didn't really think she was the one who should be doing this.
Though.... maybe she was better than some people out there.
"....Can I ask what brought you here anyway?"

Volya just smiled a little at her, glad someone believed in him, even if he himself didn't. Jenna and Rhys had said the same thing basically, but it was nice having someone else say it too. He just kept eating in the silence that fell over them. Everyone else was doing their own thing, eating and chatting with their own friends. But when the next question was asked, Volya blinked, then frowned as he looked at his food.
"I'm a.... Firebird." he said lightly, mainly trying to remember how to say it in English, knowing she knew of the supernatural, considering she'd just seen him transform from a bird into a human, and didn't seem bothered by his glowing. "There's a myth about us, saying that our feathers can grant a single wish." he said lightly. "It's a complete lie, but desperate people will do just about anything to get what they want." He was speaking so softly that he didn't even know if she'd hear him, he just felt cautious about who else could hear him.

Her eyes widened when he admitted what he was. "A firebird? Wow...." She had never seen a firebird, had only heard that they existed. Well, now she had seen one but that was beside the point. She let out a small chuckle and straightened her sunglasses. "That explains a bit, I guess. And why you're here. Did you find this place on purpose or by accident like me?"

Volya bit his lower lip, but smiled a bit at her, glad she didn't seem to bothered. "By accident." he said lightly as he took a bite of some grapes, all of the food on his plate was mainly fruits after all. "I was running from some people who wanted my feathers."

"Well, if not wishes at least those feathers bring you luck." She smiled kindly and leaned back in her seat, studying him with her electric blue eyes. "And what better place to lay low?"
She voiced the question almost metaphorically, as she thought about how Alexis had found her stealing bandages and how despite the risks involved with a gorgon she was welcomed. What better place than a tolerant one? Then she snapped out of her thoughts and absently straighted her glasses and head wrap.

Blinking at that, Volya then smiled at her words, realizing what she meant. "Yea, true." he said with a nod. "I wish my family was here with me though." he said lightly as he reached a hand into his pocket again, and started to mess with the thing he had in there. It was actually the feather his sister had given to him before he left them.

"I'm sorry they aren't." .She glanced over his head to observe the crowd in the room. There was such a mix of people here. People hiding, running, starting over, and even just living their lives. It was daunting to think about fitting in here, but so far everyone seemed to welcome those who wanted to try.
"But... maybe it'll be okay." She smiled slightly. "A sweet kid like you can probably make a lot of friends."

Volya just smiled a bit, and continued to eat, enjoying the silence that fell over them. It wasn't silent in the room by a long shot, but he didn't feel like he needed to talk to keep Tannis from getting bored, or anything like that. He then glanced up when she spoke again. Smiling a bit more, he nodded.
"Yea, maybe." he said after swallowing. He then grew curious. "So.... if you don't mind me asking... w-what are you?" he asked, biting his lower lip. He was curious since she knew what he was. "If you don't feel like answering that's fine." he said a bit rushed after, eyes a little wide.

She went silent for a few moments before pushing her plate back and leaning her arms against the table. "I don't mind you asking, but I don't know if you'll like what I am, Volya. And I don't want to scare you more than saying that might already." She sat back again and pushed her glasses up once more. "But it's up to you if you really want to know. I'm not trying to keep it secret, but I'm not shouting it out to everyone either."

Volya blinked at that, and bit his bottom lip, unsure but at the same time to curious for his own good. "Ah well... I don't get scared that easily." he said, a cute little pout on his lips, but both of them knew he did. It was way to obvious by how he acted. "And you wouldn't hurt me, so it's fine, right?" he peeked over to her with his fiery red eyes.

Her brows lowered behind her glasses as she stared at him hard before letting out a long sigh. If he didn't find out now, from her, in a comfortable setting, he could find out in a not so nice way. And if it was a problem... At least they weren't really attached. They just met after all.
"Alright. If you're sure." She crossed her arms and gave him one more appraising look before speaking. "I'm a gorgon. You know what that is?"

Volya's brows frowned in confusion for a moment, before he gave a little 'Oooh.' He bit his lip, then smiled, obviously nervous. "I-I see... well... th-that's fine... I am afraid of snakes but.... n-not you." he assured her a bit softly, knowing he was being very obvious with his nervous fear.

Her smile was relieved when he didn't immediately go scrambling for somewhere 'safer', flighty thing he obviously was. Tannis pointed to her headscarf . "I keep them wrapped up so the humans who visit don't get scared either. When you're ready, you can see them, but for now they'll stay that way, okay?" She spoke soothingly, hoping that helped his nerves. "I'd show you my scales instead, but they're all on my back." She explained with a grin.

One of Volya's hands went into his pocket to fidget with his sister's feather. "Y-yea. that's f-fine." he said with a shy little smile. But her comment about her scales, and them being on her back, made the little bird blush brightly, his hair and eyes seeming to glow a bit more too, before he hid behind his lightly glowing hair. "Ah- th-that's okay." he said softly, obviously growing shy now.
