Hope sat in her tent in that big old armchair that had some wear and tare. But she liked it as is. She liked how her tent was a overly cluttered mess that potion bottles would shine in the light when they were hit just right, giving that tent that extra hint of magic to it. If you are wondering why customers come and go with easy and not screaming terror. Hope looked perfectly Human. A Slender red head dressed in green and browns. A emerald green blows with flowing sleeves that hugged her wrist, A Corset that hugged her frame so well, brown lather pants and boots to match, and her hair pined up in a curly updu. It looked like her hair was just eating the many hairpins that she had. A gloved hand touched the page of a book she was reading. Glasses slowly started to slip off of the button nose and all you could see were bright blue eyes in a sea of freckles. She would glands up and give you a smile. Then go back to her book. Until she heard a little “Um” and she closed her book.
Looking to the side was a little boy. Small and a little plump holding few bills in his hand. Mostly tens and a five. “Yes?” she asked sweetly. Her elbow on the armrest as her hand propped her chin up. The boy stuttered a little and it took him a bit. Hope smirked as she pushed her glasses up her noses “Are you looking for a book?” His eyes lit up and nodded “Yes.. I saw one here last time… do you still have it?” he asked beaming with hope.
“The one about myths and monsters?”
He nodded his little round head, his short hair going every way his head did. “The really big book that had everything from gnomes to the boogie man ?” he nodded his head again “Yes!”
Moving her legs she got off her chair. And started to flout. The boy watched and pondered how did she do that. Going to many book shelf’s searching for the book. “Were or where are you? you silly book?” Searching from shelf to shelf. She smiled “Here we are.” Looking at the prices she had marked. Sighing. She studied the book to. This was an old book. Had all the secrets of all things. Many secrets too.
Turning she patted her hand on it. Covering some words and hiding some secrets, until they were meant to be shown. “Now, before I sell this book to you, why do you want it?” She asked sitting down in her chair. The boy looked at her then down at his shirt a little “Be-be-because I like magic and all things about it….” She leaned back “ You do know magic is not always nice, it can be mean and scary too, like I do in my show …” The boy nodded. “I know, but it fascinates me anyway” He looked up to her smiling. Hope smirked “One more question, What’s your Favorite mythical creatcher?”
“Dragons!” He throw his hands in the air, letting the money fly out. That warmed her heart. Wiggling her finger. That warmed her heart really. Watching him gather his money, she pulled the hair pins out. Hair tumbling down, from bright red to that brilliant blue that matched the sky. Skin paled to white and her freckles merged to thoughts violet markings.
Once the boy turned around. There she sat in her dragon self. “Eeep” Instead of being her large and long self she was small. About the size of a Doberman. Giving a smile. Her pointed ears perked. And she gave a kind look to him. “Keep a secret will you kiddo” Out came Hope from her chair. Looking like the human. A fake really. But Magic played its part in this ones. “She’s old as that book… and she just love hearing little kids say they like dragons still” the fake Hope said with a cheery smile. The boy was amazed. He held up his money. Hope the fake to a Ten, and waved her hands to him “ Little discount”
“Ca-ca-ca-can I Touch her?” he stuttered as he asked his question. “Sure, but be careful”
Instead of a pet. Hope got a hug. This was new. Mostly little kids would tremble at the well Idea of her, well being her and what she was. But she got a hug. Wrapping her wings around him she returned that hug too. She had a good feeling about this one she did. “Thank you” He said lightly pulling away. The fake smiled at this sight. Then heard some calling a bit of a way “Ope papa” Pulling away He tok the new big book with him “Remember keep this a secret!” the fake said.
“I will!” The two watched him run off. As soon as he was gone. Hope closed her tent for the day. Slowly turning the fake picked her up and took her to the back.
Sitting on the chair that looked tattered and warn. Hope looked at a photo of a man. Smiling sweetly she brushed a tear from her eyes. Looking up she good see that once s little boy, and slowly grow over the years. Little boy, to a young man, to an elderly man to an old man. He would come to see her. He did great things. He became a great man he did.
Sitting in her tent filled with magic and trinkets. One part of a wall held hanging photos of people she had met over her long lifetime. People that have done and become great people in the magic world. Ones that touched her hear. And she did for them.
“Ma’am?” Looking from the photo stood a girl. She smiled “Yes child?’
The end.
